I hate syncretism.I hate when they mixed animism into religion.Because everytime something unexplainable happens or they suspect ill deeds, they resort to the easy explanation...buatan orang (people's doing) via what else black magic.
Why can't we stick to logic?Islam promotes logic you know,it promotes rational thinking.It promotes seeking the truth.Why do we have to think bad of everything?Ok so I admit I used to think that way years before now.But I was taken in by old people and media.They make fascinating stories that you can't help but think it's true.I'm not saying it's entirely not true.Just that there are so many logical explanation,why must we resort to animism?
Oh but just to clarify..I'm still afraid to watch ghost stories.Better to be safe than sorry.Better to sleep than to risk my slumber.This's psychology,I think.Nisa?
I think to study religon sociologically,you must have a religion.Coz if you're a free-thinker, you would definitely be swayed by all the explanations.The sociologist(Weber,Marx,Comte to name a few) sensationalise their theories that you may think it's true.But I'm glad,though with my very minimal knowledge of Islam,it somehow doesn't apply to me or any of us Muslim.Coz Islam I believe is a flexible religion no matter how rigid the extremist make it seem to be.Islam promote equality,Islam promote rationalisation,Islam promote education.And it just sadden me to read Marx's view that religion is "the opium of the masses".What even sadden me is that my sociology tutor too seem to be taken in by all these talk about religion.Coz from what I infer,they may be pretty well not believe in religion.
Oh well,who am I to say anything anyway.I'm still very far away from being an "ideal" Muslim.
