One of the many things that irks me about taxis is....
when the taxi driver wind down the windows when me and the mum boarded the taxi...
To be fair to them, I know we are not exactly the best smelling people around after work. Of course, with all that curry, heat and sweat, surely you don't expect us smelling like chanel no. 5 right. But what irks me is that, do we really smell that bad that you would have to wind down the windows, in a taxi equipped with whatnots air fresheners thingy.I am very particular about service especially since my mum is in the food business and good service is just as important in our line as well. Winding down the window just because we smell like "different" is absolutely a no-no in my book. We are paying you for your service just like everyone else. Why is that just because we are not up to your liking in the smell department that you have to treat us like 2nd class citizen. So what if the person who rides in your taxi has B.O or that he had just finish 2.4k run in the army and smelt like wet socks, you gonna wind down the windows too? You know sometimes they will actually wind down the window and even switch off the air-con. And what irks me further is that they didn't have the gall to apologise or explain why they did that. If you were to tell me nicely, I would have close one eye and understand..but no... just do it and say nothing, won't you. Hello I am paying you 24 bucks( of course this include that stupid 35% surcharge and booking fee for a trip which is barely 14 bucks), so the least I expect is a comfortable ride which includes the air-con. *roll eyes* Again, I know we don't smell that good. I get it... but I surely don't think we smell horrid. It's just curry!
And sadly enough, those who always do this are the Malay taxi drivers. Of course my aim here is not to stereotype all Malay drivers... No no, coz as a Malay studies major, I know very well that stereotype is the devil. But from my experience and observations, they were mostly the ones who will actually do this. I've taken 4-5 cabs I think of which we were given the same treatment repeatedly. They should so learn from this other pakcik who drove the red CNG taxi. He has got to be the most polite driver in the whole of Singapore. Almost in every sentences he uttered has a cik and terima kasih at the end. He was so polite, I felt obligated to be just as polite as him. Haha. Ok back to what I am trying to say. Point is, as a taxi driver, I feel they are no different from all the service provider out there. The least they could do is to inform me first before winding down the window. But instead time and time again, I get deeply offended by what they were doing. Yes I know we don't smell good, I get it,thank you very much!
And because of that action, you don't deserve any thank you from me either, ass.
